Today Is: Thanks Givin Day

“Thank God for you good friend of mine,
Seldom is friendship such as thine;
How very much I wish to be
As helpful as you’ve been to me.” -- Clark

“Every time I think of you – and I think of you often. I thank God for you…” – 1 Corinthians 1:4

On a day where giving thanks is traditionally what we do
I wanted all my friends and family to know, that this Thanksgiving I’m especially grateful for you!
You’ve showered me in your love and wrapped me up in your warm embrace
You’ve also shared with me in laughter you’re the reason for the wide grin that’s spread across my face
When I think about the love and the memories we’ve made in the time we’ve shared
I’m so grateful for the person that you’ve been in my life and for all the loving ways you’ve cared
We’ve shared in life with much love, a lot of laughter, and together in our hopes and fears
It matters not how long we’ve known each other for I am grateful for the days, weeks, months, and years
And may you know that no matter the distance that may separate us, our friendship will always remain
For a friend I believe becomes a friend forever because you’ve touched my heart therefore I’ll never be the same!
I thank God for all my friends the old and the new
Thank God for my family and for everything that God’s given me to do.
No blessing should go unnoticed and no gift unthankful for
With each year that passes I am blessed with a whole ‘nother year more.
The turkey is always wonderful and the sweet potatoes are good too
But the best part of Thanksgiving is that I get to be thankful for the wonderful people in my life like YOU!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

“I am learning to live close to the lives of my friends without ever seeing them. No miles of any measurement can separate your soul from mine.” – John Muir

“Friendship is something that raises us above humanity almost… it is the sort of love one can imagine between two angels.” – C.S. Lewis

Today Is: Edwards Thanksgiving Treat Day

“Thank God for dirty dishes, they have a tale to tell,
While other folks go hungry, we’re eating pretty well.
With home, and health, and happiness,
We shouldn’t want to fuss,
For by this stack of evidence, God’s very good to us.” – unknown

“To have joy one must share it.” – Lord Byron

“She handed him the list with instructions about what to buy
As he stood in the store staring at the list looking for the items he looked at the prices and asked himself… why?
I could get this for that and that for this
And soon what was in his cart was not anything like what was on his list.
Sometimes less is more he thought,
No one will notice the least expensive turkey is the one that I bought.
He called his wife and began to complain,
“Your list is ridiculous, this foods way too expensive, this just isn’t sane.”
He crumpled up the list and stuffed it away,
Not thinking twice about the meaning of today.
So he only got what he thought they would need and soon he justified his actions,
This is food, he began to explain, it will feed.
Just as he was hanging up the phone,
He saw a young mother with a family of her own.
Although they only had a few things to their name,
You could tell by the smiles on their faces that they loved each other just the same.
He couldn’t help but notice that their cart was rather bare,
With only a can of corn, a box of instant potatoes and no turkey found anywhere in there.
As Edward gazed from a distance, frozen to his spot,
It was at that moment that Edward really learned a lot.
He pulled out the crumpled list that his wife had given him before.
And began to scurry around, going up each and every isle in the store.
What once would have barely fed four, now could feed that and so much more.
Edward walked up to the family and said with a grin,
‘You have inspired me and taught me the true meaning of Thanksgiving again.’
He asked them to come with him and as he rolled his cart up to the cashier
He leaned over the counter and quietly whispered something in her ear.
She began to ring up the groceries one by one,
And by the time the last item crossed the scanner, the damage was done.
But instead of thinking about the money he was about to spend,
Edward quietly gave thanks for being able to do something for someone, who just moments before he wouldn’t have considered a friend.
Edward’s kindness did not end with taking care of the young family’s fare,
He invited them to his family Thanksgiving dinner, to come eat and come share.
Seated around the table about to say grace,
Edward glanced over and saw a small tear fall from the young boy’s face.
‘This is the best Thanksgiving that we’ve ever had,
Life hasn’t been easy since we lost our dear dad.’
The young mother swiftly bowed her head to the ground
And began to pray quietly for the grace that she had warmly found.
‘Oh Father, what a blessing,
To be able to stuff ourselves with such delicatessens like turkey and dressing,
To sit around a table with family and friends,
Laughing and talking, carrying on like the night has no end.
It is times like these we must not forget that others aren’t as lucky as we,
With heads bowed we ask you to watch over and protect thee.
Let us be grateful for all that we were given,
But most importantly that you died on the cross so that we could keep on livin’.
Although we may never dine this well again,
My children and I will always be grateful for Edward, our wonderful new friend.
May we be thankful for all that we have each and every day
May you continue to remind us that your love comes in the small blessings you send our way.’
They said their amens, the turkey was carved and served onto their plates,
And for this young family who was expecting nothing more than canned corn and instant ‘tates,
They too understood the true meaning of giving thanks.
This Thanksgiving meant so much to them and it would go down forever as one of the best days in their memory banks.
Let us learn from Edward this holiday season
That holidays come about for a very special reason.
It is not about how much you have to spend,
No, holidays are about spending precious time with your loved ones, your family and friends.
It is not about the presents or the feast
But about our loved ones, the people that matter the most, but cost the very least.”

Today Is: When You're Weak I'll Make You Strong Day

“It often takes an experience of crippling weakness for us to finally discover it. That is why so many of the most God-blessed people limp as they dance for joy.” – Timothy Keller “Counterfeit Gods”
“When she gave her heart finally to the Lord, she got her life back.” – Timothy Keller “Counterfeit Gods”

“If through a broken heart God can bring His purposes to pass in the world, then thank Him for breaking your heart.” – Oswald Chambers “My Utmost for His Highest”
Maybe that is why I have felt the tug so strong recently, as I am weak, in my weakest and shameless moments I feel the pull on my heartstrings and I hear the whispers louder than ever! “God chooses the weak things of the world to shame the strong, the foolish and despised things to shame the wise, even the things that are not, to bring to nothing the things that are.” – Corinthians 1:29-31 God brought me down to my knees, not to feel sorry for myself and look inside for courage, but instead to look up for guidance and comfort. To look to him to bring me through and to guide me on to the next journey, to use me to be all that he intended me to be. Almost four years ago now, God found me at my weakest moment, and with His great grace I collapsed to my knees and into His loving arms, four years ago I heard him whisper in my sorrow and I could feel the great tug on my heartstrings. I got a glimpse of what God had intended for my life and it was in my weakest and most painful moment that he gave me determined strength and unbelievable opportunities for my future. All he needed me to do was listen to his promise as he told me, “Come follow me!” Through our weak he makes us strong, and in our pain he brings purpose and meaning.
Remember when you are knocked down, God’s hand is already outstretched waiting for you to search out for him to pull you back up!
“We can’t know all the reasons our Father is allowing bad things to happen to us, but like Jesus, we can trust him in those difficult times… to follow the call of God when times seem at their darkest and most difficult.” – Timothy Keller “Counterfeit Gods”
“So be truly glad! There is wonderful joy ahead, even though it is necessary for you to endure many trials for a while.” – 1 Peter 1:6
“I agonize and cry when the cross is working within me, but when it is over I look back in admiration for what God had accomplished.” – Francois Fenelon

Today Is: Dream Bigger Day

“You mustn’t be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.” – unknown
“God gave me talents as a gift to me. My gift to him is to use those talents to his glory.” – Lori Neal
Have you ever had a dream that you though to yourself this will be nothing more than just a dream? Have you ever thought about that dream so much that you literally started to dream about it at night? Have you ever shared that dream with someone and they looked at you with that look that says, “Only in your dreams!” Have you ever been afraid to share your dreams because what happens if that dream never comes true? What happens if you chase after that dream and you fail? Have you ever had a dream that you know is your dream for a reason? Have you ever wondered what could I do with my one precious life that would make a difference in this world? Have you ever dreamed so big that the dream didn’t even feel like it was your dream? Me too and this dream that I share with you below is all of that in one… This is the dream of CAMP HOPE.
Well this is it, you’re reading it first, and I’m declaring one of my ultimate dreams… To open up a camp for teens of all ages and backgrounds, races and religions, that teaches them about the essentials in life. I want to have a camp that provides teenagers with life lessons and shows them that there is more to life than what many of them may know. Like I said, the camp would be open to all teens, but my vision is teenagers of low income or just teenagers that need to see that there is a better life out there. That life is supposed to be enjoyed and filled with love. I hope to one day open a camp that teaches self confidence, self respect, volunteering and giving of ourselves, a camp that teaches about money, not the importance of astronomical amounts but the importance of how to save, taxes, etc… I want these children to learn about leadership, and commitment and standing up for what they believe in. I want them to learn from greats like Martin Luther King, Ghandi, Jackie Robinson, Oprah, Blake Mycoskie and many more. I want the camp to feature all types of different activities that will allow these teens to explore their own drive and purpose such as, photography, creative writing, sciences, sculpting, math, drawing/painting, exercise… I want this to be a place that teenagers come to not only learn about how to live their lives but how to give of their lives too. Each student would have a mentor and the mentors would be someone older than themselves, for the oldest students they would get members of the staff. The mentors would be with their mentees through their entire time in camp until their mentee graduated. It would be a glorified LINKS program. I would love to have the camp in association with multiple different organizations so that we could have an internship program for the students to be associated with. Students could volunteer as interns at organizations to determine if they wanted to pursue careers in the given fields before they committed to degrees in college. Each student of the camp would also be responsible for supporting a child financially from another country by performing chores around the campus. Each student would also be required to have “X” amount of community service hours at an organization of their choice. The schools principles would revolve around the meaning of giving and living a life of service along with joy, happiness, and love!
Camp Hope would be the start of “No Strings Attached” the sports program that would work with other high schools in their sports programs by helping to provide efficient sporting equipment and support for their sports teams. “No Strings Attached” would allow other high schools to attend practices with students at Camp Hope and would require that students from both Camp Hope and adjoining high schools attend each other’s games and events.
The first graduating class of Camp Hope will be in 2024, with all 118 students graduating and attending college.
For some of you as you read this you may think, ‘Oh that’s just a dream!’ Or maybe, ‘That’s impossible.’ And for some of you, you may read this and think that dream is so big that you cannot even fully grasp the concept right now. Believe me I understand, but I challenge those of you who doubt my dream or those of you who think that my dream is too BIG, to dream BIGger for yourself, no matter how impossible it may seem because if you want it bad enough you will find a way to make it happen. God turns “That’s impossible.” Into “It’s not only possible, it’s done!”
“If you are called, God will make a way. Either where you are or through a change of circumstances. Follow your lover, respond to his invitations. With him there is no stopping you.” – John & Stasi Eldridge “Captivating”
“Never let the odds keep you from doing what you know in your heart you were meant to do.” – H. Jackson Brown Jr.
“You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. DON’T MAKE MONEY YOUR GOAL! Instead pursue the things you love doing, and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off you.” – Maya Angelou

Today Is: Coach Me Day

“It’s true, that once in a while God lays fantastic surprises on us.” – Sam Childers “Another Man’s War”
“Caring for those Jesus loves draws me closer to him.” – Kay Warran “Dangerous Surrender”
“Coach, today I saw this group of kids in the hall worshipping Satan!” I looked at her with confusion, she went on to tell me what she was interpreting as “worshipping” and then she said, “You know what I did to them?” My mind went immediately to, “Oh no! Please don’t tell me you punched one of them!” I was preparing to reprimand her for her disciplinary behavior but before I said anything I looked at her and her sweet eyes looked up at me as she said, “I prayed!” I’ve been reminded of that conversation all week as I have witnessed people, including myself, partaking in things that are not in the spirit of God. Although I’m the coach and I tend to think of myself as one of the people who has the opportunity to teach my players how to do things the right way, or the way that I think is the best way, I was the one who was learning on this day, she was coaching me on the power of prayer. Instead of placing ourselves above others, condemning them for their beliefs and actions, seeing ourselves and our actions above theirs, stand alongside them, show them love and compassion. Sometimes when you set out to teach others, it’s those you hope to teach, that end up teaching you the greatest lessons.
“To care means first of all to empty our own cup and to allow the other to come close to us. It means to take away the many barriers which prevent us from entering into communion with the other. When we dare to care, then we discover that nothing human is foreign to us, but that all the hatred and love, cruelty and compassion, fear and joy can be found in our own hearts…” – Henri Nouwen
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” – Romans 12:21

Today Is: Beautiful Surrender Day

“I am the Lord’s servant and I am willing to accept whatever he wants.” – Luke 1:38
“I don’t know exactly what the question is, God, but my answer is yes!” – Kay Warren “Dangerous Surrender”
This is my prayer to you Father:
I do not want to live a life of selfishness or non-service; I want to be fulfilled with your purpose and I want to make a difference in this world. I do not want to be comfortable and complacent, happy with stability, I want to always be striving for a challenge and working to grow in your love to be a better me. I want you to use me in the way that I was designed for. I want you to remind me when I begin to think that I have control of my life that you are at the controls and you will do what is best for me always, even when I do not think that it’s best at the time. I ask you to guide me to the place that it is that you want me to be and I beg you to challenge me to jump out of my comfort zone and fall into the zone. I ask you to use my gifts and talents in ways that can inspire others to do the same. I believe that you gave me certain things for certain reasons and I turn all of my gifts to you for you to give away. I surrender my life to you Lord and I lay my hands down at your feet, giving you all that I am, will be and ever hoped to be, knowing that you will make my life an example of God’s love. I am yours God, use me! Amen
“Surrender always leads to peace.” – Kay Warren “Dangerous Surrender”
“It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the son of God.” – Galatians 2:20

Today Is: Tears of A Clown Day

“Step through the pain, I will make you something great.” – Gil Jones

“I do breathe, allowing the sorrows of the world to break my heart over and over, letting the joys make it whole again.” – Oriah “The Invitation”

My calloused soul reflects off the glass pane in the mirror
With each drip that falls, the engravings become clearer
I swiftly wipe away the drops, hoping they will not leave a trace
Immediately I begin to paint the thick white plaster all across my face

The mask that hides my sorrow is bright, its color white like snow
For it covers up the treks of my tears and the streams where they did flow
I slowly paint my cheeks a rosy red happy grin
The smile that now appears covers up the frown I feel within

Each night I play a happy character, you never notice a thing
What you see on the outside has nothing to do with the tune my saddened heart sings
You watch me with excitement. You gasp and you seemed wowed
You do not see the emotion that I portray, nor do you hear the silent words I scream aloud.

All you see when you look at me is the glowing smile I’ve drawn upon my face
If only you were able to see closer you would notice that sadness has left its trace.
Performing as usual, silly parts I must play while my emotions I try to hide
You laugh hysterically at my antics but are unable to notice that I am slowly dying inside

You think you know ‘this clown’ all too well, yet you really have no idea
For you cannot see past the character I’ve created
You’re not able to see my cheeks are stained with tears.
Clowns are not supposed to be sad, that is not the nature of thee
For clowns like I, are to be overflowing with joy, our job is to make people like you laugh and be happy

The mask that I’ve applied over and over again
Has not only hidden the tracks of my tears but it has also masked the woman I am within.
So this clowns funny days are ending for the paint has begun to wear thin
It’s time that this clown wipes off her mask and lets her true self begin.

No more painting on smiles to cover up a frown
No more giving into you or your demands I am finally standing my ground.
With a swipe of the cloth my painted face is now bare
Maybe now you’ll notice the tracks from the tears that once were there!

The smile you see that lights up my tattered face is no longer painted on my skin
I am smiling with my liver because of the way that God has filled my life again!
No need to use paints to cover up my tears
For they are now reminders of Gods hidden blessings through the rough and tough years!

“Silence… becomes not only a place to be alone but also a place that’s an invitation to others to join you, to want to know who’s there, in the quiet.” – David Whyte

“There is a sacredness in tears.
They are not the of weakness, but of power.
They speak more eloquently then ten thousand tongues.
They are messengers of overwhelming grief… and unspeakable love.” – Washington Irving

Today Is: Good For My Soul Day

“I hold this as the highest task for a bond between two people: that each protects the solitude of the other.” – Rainer Maria Rilke
“I am learning to live close to the lives of my friends without ever seeing them. No miles of any measurement can separate your soul from mine.” – John Muir
There I was nestled into the comfy chair in the corner, sipping my Chai and catching up on my e-mails when I noticed out of the corner of my eye two young women, embracing in what seemed to be a long-overdue hug, as they released from one another’s arms, one of the ladies said to her friend; “You’re good for my soul!” At which her friend smiled, and said with a chipper tone, “You’re good for my soul.” My heart warmed with this simple statement as I thought about the people in my life who are “good for my soul”! I am so blessed to be surrounded by many people who I would consider “good for my soul” in some ways I might consider them the gardeners of my soul, planting seeds of encouragement, support, love, trust, and faith while watering me daily with their friendship! Without these ‘gardeners’ my soul probably would be covered with dirt, no sprouts to show of my growth or my blossom. They have allowed me to bloom into something even I never could have thought I could become and they continue to challenge me to make my garden more abundant. These wonderful friends of mine are not only good for my soil but are good for my soul! I love you all and I am so grateful that you continue to pour your love onto me and allow me to grow into the woman that I was created to beJ
“You will not believe how glad I am that I have met you.”  -- Leos Janacek
“When God gives a friend, he is intrusting us with the care of another’s heart. It is a chance to mother and to sister, to be a life giver, to help someone else become the woman she was created to be, to walk alongside her and call her deep heart forth.” – Stasi Eldridge “Captivating”

Today Is: Let Your Dreams Take Flight Day

“After all the prayers to God to make something happen in my life I realized that God was waiting on me.” – Oprah

“’Do you know what you want?’
‘To make something of my life. To be more…’
‘…What’s the use of dreaming?’
‘Perhaps God put the dream in your head.’
‘Why?’
‘To teach you patience…’
‘…What good is patience when nothing will ever change?’
‘Nonsense…’
‘…Look at what you’ve gained… Doesn’t that show you God is preparing you --?’ “ – Francine Rivers “Her Mother’s Hope”

I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately! What is it that God created me for? What is it that God specifically called me to do in this world? I’ve got an itch to understand the world and what part I play in it. I want to know what me being here is doing for the world? What am I doing to make this place a better place to live? What am I giving to the world; or am I just taking? If God created me for something specific why do I feel like I’m just doing what I have to do to live? If God made me to be something extraordinary why do I feel just ordinary? If God has such big plans for my life, why am I still living a life of insignificance? I feel that God put these thoughts, these talents, and gave me very specific gifts to use in this world yet I do not feel like I am doing anything but keeping them for myself. What can I do that will make me believe that I am not living a life of self-centeredness but instead be living a life of selflessness? What can I do that not only makes me believe it but makes others see it? What can I do that gives my life so much meaning that if I were to die tomorrow I would die knowing that my life was lived in the way that God intended it to be? That my life was used for God’s purposes and not just my own, that my life gave life to others and didn’t just take from others. What could I do that glorifies God and his creation in me?

‘Embark on the world! Go where I lead you; come follow me! I will use you for my purposes but you will have to let go of yours. You will have to give up the idea of who you think you are to be who I want you to be. Are you ready for that?’

YES! Hello world…

“…Little girl…
Got little hands and she waves at me
Yeah she smiles at me

Hello world, how you been?
Good to see you my old friend
…I see your light, a little hope, in a little girl
Well hello world.

Sometimes I forget what livings for
And I hear my life through my front door
And I’ll be there, oh I’m home again
…Hello world

All the empty disappears
I remember why I’m here
Just surrender into me
And I fall down on my knees
Well hello world” – Lady Antebellum “lyrics from Hello World

“Dreams are funny like that… You want something so desperately, you somehow get it, then just as suddenly it’s over… The secret I’ve learned is to appreciate the process.” – Nicholas Sparks “Three Weeks With My Brother”

“She felt she had found her place in the world. She had purpose. She had value… She was exactly where God wanted her.” – Francine Rivers “Her Mothers’ Hope”

“… we were created ‘to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do…’ My existence was not random, nor was it an accident. God knew who he was creating, and He designed me for a specific work.” – Francis Chan “Crazy Love”

Today Is: Wipe Your Slate Clean Day

“You have to have faith in God and faith in yourself if you want others to have faith in you.” – Ron Turcotte
“Dreams start out a size too big so you can grow into them.” -- unknown
Has someone ever told you something about yourself that is hurtful, degrading, hard to swallow or just not true? Have you ever been told that you are not good enough, you’ll never make it, or that your dreams are never going to come true? Has someone ever made you believe something about yourself that you don’t like or do not believe? Me too…
If you’ve ever been told things about yourself that you do not believe or agree with, if you’ve ever been told your dreams will never become a reality, or that you are not good enough to achieve something great then today is your day, because today, you have the power; today and for the rest of your life to take life’s great eraser and erase all the negative things that anyone has ever made you believe. Today you get to start with a clean slate! Today is the day that you can decide who you are, what you want to be, and how you’re going to go about achieving your dreams. You get to write your own story, you get to paint the picture of your own future; not anyone else! YOU!!! You are the artist of your creation and you have the ability to paint your life with the beautiful colors of your dreams. You no longer have to hold onto people’s negative images or comments about you, you hold the brush and you have the opportunity to turn all negative and ugly things into something majestic don’t let the gift of that pass you by! This is your once chance at life, make it count!

Today Is: Seeds of a Family

"In the hands of God, small seeds grow into sheltering trees. Tiny leaven expands into nourishing loaves... small deeds can change the world." -- Max Lucado

"You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them."
--Desmond Tutu

It all began when the Creator from up above decided to plant a life, he shared his blessing and his love.
He planted these seeds several years ago and tree after tree then started to grow Your tree took form after Jim and Alberta became one.
And since that day your tree took root, and with you Georganne, life as we know it just begun
Your roots have now grown down deep in the earth's very soil And the Master's plan for you has really begun to unfoil
What once was a simple seed has turned into something much greater indeed
With each year that passes the roots of the tree grow stronger than they were before
And like the tree, with age, our love and appreciation for you grow more and more
The trunk of the tree is what holds it in place and the same holds true for our family forest;
Your our trunk, our foundation, our saving grace
Your limbs have stretched out far over the years And you have joined in on our happiness and calmed us through our fears
Like the leaves of a tree, we're all different shapes and a different size
But yet you love each and everyone of us, you see the best in us, as if through God's own eyes
Even when our leaves fall off our branch and out of place
You always welcome us back to your loving embrace
And with each changing season, you've continuously loved us for no reason...
Other than you're the most generous and giving tree in all of the forest And we're so lucky and grateful that you came into this world before us
For without you, our solid beautiful tree, Our lives would not be the same and we wouldn't be
Thank you for providing for our each and every need Here's to you, the beautifully grown tree, that began as just a single seed.

"Love is the secret of a lasting heritage." -- Rick Warren

"One of the blessings of family comes from our joy in discovering God's grace and purpose for bringing us into each other's lives." -- Unknown

Today Is: Little Jui Bean

“A baby is an angel whose wings decrease as their legs increase.” – unknown
“We are all students and teachers. Ask yourself: ‘What did I come here to learn? What did I come here to teach?’” – Louise L. Hay
My dearest Little Bean,
I finally got to see you for the first time this weekend. Your mom got to come out and visit the family and it was the first time that I got to see the wonderful miracle of you inside of her belly. You must be pretty small still because your mom isn’t that big yet, she told me that you were probably about the size of a white onion; one day you’ll be able to understand how small that really is. Have I told you how much I love you! It’s truly unbelievable how much I already love you and you’re no bigger than an onion. I must tell you this too, your Mom is unbelievably happy with the news of you little one, I just wish you could see the way that she lights up when she talks about you or the way that she constantly finds ways to bring up babies in any conversation. It’s so endearing to see how much joy you have already brought her. I hope someday you’ll understand her great love for you, even before you were born. Little Bean I find myself thinking about you on a daily basis and I cannot wait for the days that I can share in life with you; I get excited when I think about the days when you’ll come to visit your Aunt and we get to talk about life together! I guess before I wish away all the wonderful days of your young self, I must look forward to the days where I can hold you in my arms and smell that sweet scent of innocence. I am counting down the months till we meet! I love you little one!

Today Is: All About The Fellas

“When we find the sacred in the ordinary… we allow for a richer saturation of joy and creativity in our lives. Everyday moments become clearer with meaning – moments that we may have never noticed before. And our creative lives are transformed by the inspiration that comes from simply paying closer attention to the abundance that already exists in the ordinary moments of our lives.” – Kelly Rae Roberts “Taking Flight”
“It’s only what we learn while we’re doing what seems to be basically routine that really counts, how to endure, how to produce, how to make life rich at its most mundane moments.” – Joan Chittister
This was a special day already because my sister was in town to help celebrate my grandma’s 75th birthday at a ladies getaway in the mountains. My mom, my sister and I all stopped to grab a little pick me up before we made the drive up to the house. We each ordered a drink to our liking and waited at the counter for the young woman to tell us how much we owed. After a little reprimanding from her co-worker she turned to us a little flustered before saying, “Can I get you ‘fellas anything else?”  Like I said, I needed a little pick-me-up so I wasn’t sure that I had heard her correctly but what I thought I had heard her call us was ‘fellas. I knew that my ears had not deceived me when I looked at my sister and she was wearing a smirk of confusion and that is when I lost it. I tried to stifle my laughter but it seems that I was not doing a very good job as my sister quickly advised me to “walk away”. I walked away from the counter but my laughter continued. After the three of us collected our drinks we walked out and as soon as we made it to the pavement all three of us were in hysterics. You may be reading this and thinking to yourself, that is really not that funny, and you are probably right, it really is not that funny, but there are some moments in life that just seem to be that much better because of who you are sharing them with and this was one of those moments!  I am grateful for these small reminders that life is to be shared with the one’s you love for when you do, life seems to be that much richer!

Today Is: Low On Fuel? Day

“Slow down and invest yourself in knowing God; let His word reveal himself to you.” – Luke 10:41-42
“’I just wish your life could be easier.’
‘And if it were easier, would I have given my heart so fully to God? Wherever you go, let Christ be your refuge. Put your hope in Him, and you won’t be disappointed by what life offers.’” – Francine Rivers “Her Mother’s Hope”
“Endure what life dishes out. Learn all you can. Count your blessings.  Never give up. Keep growing in the Lord.” – Francine Rivers “Her Daughter’s Dream”
Have you ever prayed so hard for something, thinking that God knew exactly what it is that you asked for? You believe you made it perfectly clear in prayer however God seems to misunderstand you and your prayer is not answered or at least not in the way you thought it would be. At times it takes a while to understand that this different form of answered prayer is good for you, and other times it is known instantly that what you were praying for God heard and knew exactly what you needed even if it meant giving you something or taking something away from you that you  did not know was necessary. Garth Brooks referred to some of these God given miracles as unanswered prayers, “Sometimes I thank God, for unanswered prayers… and just because He doesn’t answer doesn’t mean He don’t care. Some of God’s greatest gifts are unanswered prayers.” I am reminded that what may seem like an unanswered prayer or a misunderstanding of what I may have been asking for is God’s way of saying, “Trust in Me, my dear child, for I am in control.” With this reassurance I can walk with confidence knowing that God always has us and our best interest at heart, and He truly knows what it is that is best for our lives, even when we think we know what it is we need, want or desire. With this confidence I am assured that God is preparing me for something great and I needn’t worry or lose faith in the things that I prayed so hard for as they may come in even greater forms than I could ever imagine. This is how God works and this is why his love is unremarkable! When I look to the Lord to refuel my soul I am no longer empty and running off fumes, instead I am overflowing with his loving energy and my soul runs on his amazing grace! What do you do to refuel?
“… I had come to the end of everything that I knew, I understood that I couldn’t go any further on my own… I waited. I prayed. What I needed to do was whispered into my heart.” – Iyanla Vanzant “Peace from Broken Pieces”
“I am thankful for the unknowns and that I don’t have control, because it makes me run to God.” – Francis Chan “Crazy Love”

Today Is... Burnin' Passion Day

"...with a keen overwhelming, burning, passionate focus on what it is you long to say more than anything else in the world. That's the thing. That's the only thing." -- Patti Digh "Creative is a Verb"

"The dream lives." -- Ellen DeGeneres "My Point and I Do Have One"

"Look at your life. Look at what you have to do tomorrow and check inside your body. What do you feel? If you feel 'yeechh!,' it means you've lost track of your direction. In the wild, it means your track has gone cold, and you need to go back to your last hot track; go back to the last time you felt passion or joy."—Martha Beck

Have you ever read something and felt the words jump off the page and nestle inside your heart, gripping at your insides, clinging to anything they can to help ensure that they are not only heard but felt. Words like the ones you read above had that impact on me. I read this and I not only felt this in my mind but could feel it deeply in my heart. On more occasions than I would like to admit, I have lost track of my direction and let it go so cold I felt as if I had frozen there. I couldn’t feel the fire of passion or excitement only the icy feeling of discontentment and the coldest feeling of all, lifeless.
If you have ever had these feelings or feel your track has gone cold it's time to create life. Jump wildly out of your comfort zone and chase your greatest dreams. No great thing is worth letting pass you by. Follow your heart's desires and allow your destination to become anything but comfortable. When you feel the burning passion inside your heart and the fire is so hot it warms those around you, you know you have found the track that you should not only follow but pursue! What are you waiting for?

"Get out of the house, find your path and follow your heart." -- Ellen DeGeneres "My Point... And I Do Have One"

Today Is: Heavy Boots Day

"Stop and see what comes out of the emptiness." -- Oriah 'What We Ache For'

"...in the context of God's strength, our problems are small..." -- Francis Chan 'Crazy Love'

What gives you heavy boots?
What fills them up with lead?
Is it the things you fear the most?
Or is it something else instead?

Heavy boots cause you might die alone
No loved ones at your side?
Or are your boots so heavy
Because of the person you are inside?

Heavy boots trodden upon a heavy heart
What is it that makes your boots so heavy?
Have you done everything you can?
Have you done your part?

Does the idea of death
Weigh down your boots; now cemented to the floor?
Do your boots carry extra weight
That was not felt there before?

No easy feat to lift your boots
From off the solid ground
Does the weight feel like it's in your boots
Or is it felt around?

These heavy boots now covered with mud
And dirt and muck
These boots seem awfully heavy now
For you haven't had the best of luck

Heavy boots because your scared
Of what you just might find?
Your weighted boots have kept you in one place
Not allowing you to climb

What is it that fills your boots with sand
Overflowing from the brim?
Is it that you'll never know what could have been
Should have been with them?

As you take a step
Do you feel the extra weight that's stuck to your boots like glue?
With the weight that you now carry
What is it that you'll do?

Heavy boots for fear of the unknown
At times your boots were heaviest
They seem to be
The times that you have really grown

Rocks now overflow your boots
No room to place your feet
Do you feel the pressures of your boots?
Will you succumb and accept defeat?

Heavy boots for you
Because of the way you feel about the ones you leave behind
Heavy boots remain
For you can never be too kind

What gives you heavy boots I ask?
What fills them up with lead?
Will you trudge along in your heavy boots?
Or will you kick them off instead?

Today Is: Call Me Crazy Day

“…to sacrifice your own comfort and welfare for another may look like madness to a safe and undisturbed world.” – Francis Chan “Crazy Love”
"I wouldn't leave you if God wasn't calling me away." -- Francine Rivers 'Her Mother's Hope'
Some may think I’m crazy, some may call me crazy and some probably know that I am crazy; I guess I’ve always relished in the idea of being a little ‘crazy’ according to societies social norms. I’ve never been one to fully adopt “What’s Hot” and even at times might do the opposite in defiance of conforming to the “norm.” But if following my heart and my passions and the call that I feel was placed upon me is crazy than crazy is the best thing that I could ever be considered. Crazy is exactly what I want to be if it means that I am fulfilling the purpose that I feel God created me for. Call me crazy, naive or out-of-my-mind nuts, but please don’t forget to mention that I was crazy about following my heart, my passion and ‘The Voice’ inside me that said, “Go for it. I created YOU for this!”

"...when God gives you something to do, you cannot just do the parts you like, the easy parts..." -- Iyanla Vanzant "Peace from Broken Pieces"

"It's a good thing God isn't limited by what we have in mind for ourselves. His plan is so much bigger." -- Francine Rivers 'Her Daughter's Dream'

"If you organize your life around your passion, you can turn your passion into your story and then turn your story into something bigger -- something that matters." -- Blake Mycoskie 'Start Something that Matters'

Today Is: Have You Ever... Day

"A person who is obsessed with Jesus is more concerned with his or her character than comfort. Obsessed people know that true joy doesn't depend on circumstances or environment; it is a gift that must be chosen and cultivated, a gift that ultimately comes from God." -- Francis Chan 'Crazy Love'

"Even in our most difficult times, God will always find a way to send you a blessing." -- Iyanla Vanzant 'Peace from Broken Pieces'

Have you ever stopped and thought about life? I mean really sat down to think about the miracle that life is? Have you ever marveled at what God created for us? Have you ever looked out your window and noticed the most beautiful sunrise? Have you ever witnessed one of life’s precious miracles? Have you ever felt the kindness of a stranger or the love of a friend? Have you ever tasted something that you wished you had more of or baked something that left your house smelling delicious for the remainder of the day? Have you ever read a book that filled you with joy or talked with a friend that filled you with comfort? Have you ever laughed so hard you cried, or ever loved so much it hurt? Have you ever helped a stranger, smiled at a child, or made someone’s day? Have you ever received forgiveness? Have you ever forgiven yourself? Have you ever heard a song that you’ll never forget, or danced all night long to the music in your heart? Have you ever had a dream, or pursued your passion? Have you ever received a letter from a friend? Have you ever celebrated a victory? Have you ever donated your belongings, or sacrificed something ‘til it hurt? Have you ever been in love, or held another’s hand? Have you ever prayed and your prayers were answered; sometimes in ways you never knew? Have you ever lay on the beach and soaked in the sun’s sweltering rays? Have you ever seen beauty with your own eyes? Have you ever run with your legs, or felt with your hands? Have you ever gotten a phone call from a friend calling just to say ‘Hello’? Have you ever had a hero or a best friend?  Have you ever taken the time to stop and think about all that God has given us? Have you ever thought about these things as gifts, from God, wrapped in different colors, ribbons, and bows? Have you ever thanked Him? Have you ever told Him how much you love him? Have you ever showed Him how crazy you are about Him? Have you ever understood His magnitude of love for you? Have you ever wondered what it will be like in Heaven? Have you ever wondered if you’ll meet the people you’ve idolized from history, or when you’ll be reunited with your loved ones? Have you ever wondered what the angels wear or if they really do have wings? Have you ever wondered how God will greet you; a hug, a kiss, or with both hands? Have you ever felt your chest rise and fall with each breath you take? Have you ever felt the air enter your lungs and then feel the air as it falls upon your lip? Have you ever thought; ‘I’m still alive?’ Have you realized that God still has purpose for your life on Earth and there is no better time than the now to get about doing what he created you for??
Have you ever thought about what all this means? God loves you beyond words. He loves you so much that he finds ways to show you every day just how much and how great his love is. He shows off his love in so many ways, but it’s up to us to not only stop and see his majestic love but to take the time out of our ‘busy’ lives to thank him for these wonderful gestures of unbinding, unselfish, and never ending love. If only you knew that everything He does He does for YOU because he loves YOU with everything that He has, you would never miss your chance to thank him!

"What did you do with what I gave you?" -- Francis Chan 'Crazy Love'
